Why I want to have a Lorton Hall Meeting

I had the idea for a Lorton Town Hall Meeting before I started producing The Lorton Show. In fact I created The Lorton Show to eventually evolve into a community orientated program from which a Lorton Town Hall Meeting platform would one day evolve from. The issue that lead to my believing there was a need for Lorton citizens to come together to discuss what is important to us outside of our being members Fairfax County were health problems I developed from living here at a lower altitude than most of the surrounding areas while being downwind from one of the highest trafficked highways in the country.

In seeking answers to what was causing my health problems, I learned a lot of things that I believe anyone who lives here would want to know about where perhaps as a community we might develop a consensus about measures that can be easily taken to solve this problem, changes that would benefit the whole country to know more about that could come from simply bringing to light certain facts about dangerous and unnecessary additives to gasoline. These changes that can be made to how certain fuel products are sold would be good for our health, good for our economy, environment, energy concerns, and even climate change equation.

There is something being done to our gasoline that is not much different from when lead was added to it until the 1970s when it was banned with regard to how it effects the environment and our health. It is something that there are alternatives to that are cheaper and give benefits that are the opposite of everything they are dong now, a couple of little know easy to apply solutions that I have researched heavily for many years. At the meeting I will offer a copy of a paper I wrote about them along with a list of the sources for the facts I relate to support my claims. That's all I'm asking by calling for this town hall meeting. I'm not planning on taking center stage to start a monthly Lorton Town Hall Meeting to insert myself as a non-appointed or elected community leader. I'm using Barack Obama's wish that the American people start these kind of meetings coordinated though his administration to launch a program I've thought we needed here in Lorton for a long time. The fact that he wants these first meetings to be about health care is just a stroke of good fortune for me.

But the structure of how the meetings will be held will be decided by the people who attend. My vision is anywhere from electing a leader and officers to manage future affairs that evolve from the meetings, to simply allowing an open discussion that I will film for my TV show. Of course I'll remove any comments by anyone who does not wish to be on TV.

I want a voice in our local affairs but there is no one that will hear it. So I am creating a platform where I can speak to the local issues that concern me. I will contribute the producing of these meetings into a TV show that will run one week out of the month on channel 10 for COX cable and Verizon FIOS customers. I will also post them here to be watched by anyone who has satellite TV.

The other three weeks of the show will be about topics of interest to the people of Lorton. Outside of that, I have no political agenda with regards to the meetings themselves except to have an equal vote to anyone else who attends in how they are conducted and organized.
